Some brilliant writing work from 7A describing their teachers! Lots of positive emails to send home tomorrow! ✍️ 🇫🇷 🏆 A busy day in the languages department! Today, some of our Year 10 students took part in a GCHQ 'Business Language Champions' challenge with Miss Inkster. After a talk with GCHQ about cryptology, students completed various challenges including decoding an audio message, gathering clues from documents, coding their own message and taking part in a French meeting via Zoom with headquarters! Well done! Today the languages department had a guest speaker in to present a motivational speech to Year 9 about the benefits of language learning. Paul Hughes is a multi-award winning and multi lingual former RAF crewman, United Nations weapons inspector and interpreter, who now works as the Director of performance and delivery at Lincoln City football club 🇫🇷🇩🇪 Year 9 students @deastonschool today learnt all about how languages are used in the footballing world, with our guest Steve Eadon from Mingalaba! All students listened to his presentation on football with languages and learnt about all of the transferable skills gained through language learning. Many students also took part in football match report writing workshops and a French football training session! 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 ⚽️ The languages department are ready to see Year 9 this evening at options evening! Come and say ‘Bonsoir’ and ‘Guten Abend’! 🇫🇷🇩🇪 Lots more Head of department commendation letters to hand out this morning to Year 9 to commend their fantastic work in exam week! 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🏆 Some new displays for you all to have a look at in the new term! Have a lovely half term holiday! 🇫🇷🇩🇪 On Thursday 9th March the languages department will be hosting a ‘Languages and football’ day for Year 9. All students will attend a presentation, with some also spending a lesson later in the day in a football training session or a classroom based workshop! Year 9, check your Classcharts announcements and complete the form sent by Miss Johnson with your preferences for the day.
